Parafield Gardens High School is looking for people to join their homestay program. The school will be adding a third study tour this year, welcoming students from Ritsumeikan Junior High School in Kyoto, Japan. A total of 16 families are required to accommodate the students between 20 November - 4 December 2019, with all participating homestays receiving a small reimbursement to cover living costs during their stay.

To become a homestay family, every household member over the age of 18 will require a current Working with Children Clearance (formerly DCSI Clearance). A DCSI child-related clearance will be recognised as a WWCC until it expires. If you require a clearance, you are able to apply through the school free of charge. We also advise that applications for clearances be submitted as soon as possible. Processing times vary, and can take up to a couple of months in some cases.

For new homestay families joining the program, we are also required to do a home inspection. The purpose of the house inspection is to confirm that the condition of your household is suitable for hosting an exchange student and is not something that should cause concern. The main aspects that will be observed are:
- A suitable room for the exchange student to sleep in (shared with a child of the same gender is also acceptable)
- A safe living environment
- Nothing whether you have pets (so we can make sure we assign a student who isn’t allergic)

We will also be able to answer any questions you have at the time, as well as give you and your family some tips and ideas.

If you are interested in joining our homestay program or would like more information, please contact Glenda or Victoria at Parafield Gardens High School on 8258 9855 from 9am-4pm on weekdays, or send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots.
